SPH Training Day

Supplementary to the workshop, a Training Day is offered on the 13th of June, 2016 between 09:30 and 16:00. The training is most suitable for researchers who are familiar with the principles of SPH but are beginning their work in the field. More experienced SPH developers and users may find that the training day is a useful opportunity for sharing insights and ideas.


Registration is scheduled from 08:30 to 10:00. The training day is structured into two parts:

  • Theory and Applications of SPH (9.00:00-12:30): The morning session will introduce the basic concepts of SPH method and one important state-of-art advanced topic on SPH. Two lectures will be given by Prof. Robert A. Dalrymple, Department of Civil Engineering, Johns Hopkins University and Prof. Walter Dehnen, Department of Physics & Astronomy, University of Leicester.
  • Simulation and Postprocessing (13:30-16:00): The afternoon session will be arranged by Altair Engineering GmbH (http://www.altair.com), and devoted to SPH pre-processing and visualization using the state-of-art software packages nanoFluidX, HyperMesh and ParaView..

The Training Day additional fee is 50,00 € (Coffee breaks and lunch are included in the additional fee). Participants have to register online on the Registration and Payment section and are requested to bring their own laptops.
